Give Kyle access to fix your site, without sharing your password
When you hire me for a fix, two steps first: you make a backup, then you give me access without ever sending your own login. Every option below gives me a separate account with only what the job needs, and you remove it when the work is done.
Step 1: make a backup and keep it (required)
Before I change anything on your site or app, you make a full backup and keep your own copy. Backups are your responsibility, as the terms say, and I start only once you tell me it is done. Here is how on each platform:
WordPress
- Ask your host for a full backup (most have a "Backups" or "Create backup" button), or install UpdraftPlus and press "Backup Now" with files and database ticked.
- Download the backup files to your own computer or cloud storage, not only the server.
Shopify
- Online Store, Themes, the three dots on your live theme, Duplicate. Then Download theme file.
- Export your products and customers (Products, Export; Customers, Export) to CSV.
Wix
- Site menu, Site History: note the current version. Also Site actions, Duplicate site, so you have a full copy.
Squarespace
- Settings, Website, Duplicate site (where your plan allows), and export your content (Settings, Import & Export, Export).
Webflow
- Site settings, Backups: create a manual backup and name it with the date.
Cloudflare
- DNS, Records, Export: save the file. Note any rules or Workers you have so they can be restored.
Code on GitHub
- Make sure everything is committed and pushed. I work on a separate branch and you approve a pull request, so your main branch is your backup.
Any host (cPanel, Plesk and others)
- Use the panel’s full backup (files and databases), then download the backup file to your own computer.
Not sure how on your platform? Ask before you give me access and I will tell you the steps. I never start without your confirmation that the backup exists.
Step 2: give me access the safe way
WordPress
- Install the free AgentDecoy Guard plugin (Plugins, Add New, upload the zip from simgen.dev/agentdecoy/guard/).
- Settings, AgentDecoy Guard, "Get help from Kyle". Pick 1, 3 or 7 days and press "Give Kyle temporary access".
- It makes a separate account with a secret login link that ends by itself. Every login is listed on that page, and "End access now" removes the account at once.
Shopify
- Settings, Users, Add staff: kyle@simgen.dev.
- Tick only what the job needs (for most fixes: Online Store, Themes). Leave orders, customers and payments off.
- Remove the staff account when the work is done.
Wix
- Settings, Roles & Permissions, Invite people: kyle@simgen.dev.
- Choose a role that can edit the site but not billing (for example Website Manager).
- Remove the person when the work is done.
Squarespace
- Settings, Permissions & Ownership, Invite contributor: kyle@simgen.dev.
- Choose Website Editor (not Administrator or Billing).
- Remove the contributor when the work is done.
Webflow
- Invite kyle@simgen.dev to the site or workspace with a role that can edit the site but not billing.
- Remove the invite when the work is done.
Cloudflare (DNS, firewall, headers)
- Manage Account, Members, Invite: kyle@simgen.dev.
- Limit the role to the one domain the job is for, not the whole account.
- Remove the member when the work is done.
GitHub (code on GitHub, Vercel, Netlify)
- Repository, Settings, Collaborators, Add people: KyleClouthier, with Write access to that one repository.
- Changes come as a pull request you approve before anything goes live.
- Remove the collaborator when the work is done.
Hosting control panels (cPanel, Plesk and similar)
- Create a separate SFTP or FTP account limited to the site folder, with its own password.
- Send that account only, never your main hosting login.
- Delete the account when the work is done.
How I work on your site
- I start only after you confirm your backup is done. I change only what we agreed, and I tell you what I changed.
- I use AI tools under my own supervision to work faster and check my work. Your logins are never pasted into an AI tool. If you would rather I did not use them on your site, say so and I will not.
- When the job is done, remove my access (or let the WordPress link end by itself) and re-run your free score to see the result.
After you invite me, email kyle@simgen.dev with your site and what you need. Not hired me yet? Start with the free scan: every result lists the fixes with starting prices.
